Postcard from the Vendée

« Allo. Bonjour. Je vous appelle pour vérifier si le site est ouvert dimanche le 2 décembre ? »

The answer was a firm non and then a five-minute conversation ensued about the communication breakdown between the team at the Maison de Georges Clemenceau, which we wanted to visit, and the Centre des monuments nationaux . They had been posting on the Facebook page again and worse still, it was incorrect information that contradicted with the house’s own posts. I listened politely, but my concern had already shifted. Would we make the effort to go today instead? Was the impressionist garden worth seeing in the pouring rain?

We visited the Vendée as international house sitters in November 2018. It didn’t rain for the whole time we were there and we enjoyed some sunny late autumn days. If you’re interested in becoming international house sitters, check out our house sitting tips pages. We’ve found nearly all of our house sits with TrustedHousesitters.com and we really recommend joining the site.
